Registration Fees:

  • Men and Women: $30 (16 and over)
  • Kids: all children 15 and under fish free, but must be registered

Fishing License Requirement:
A fishing license is required for saltwater fishing in Delaware waters. This license covers saltwater, freshwater and crabbing and clamming. Licenses are available for purchase at Check-in.

Fishing Area:
Designated surf fishing areas in the Delaware Seashore State Park.  Conquest Road south to the 1000 foot marker north of the Indian River Inlet.  All of 3R's Road fishing area.  Keybox Road just south of Dewey Beach is not in the tournament area. Fenwick Island State Park is not in the tournament area.

Drive-on locations:
Conquest Road, Faithful Steward Crossing and 3R's Road.

Walk-on:
3R's Road and Conquest Road.

Prizes:

Largest Qualifying Fish of Tournament: $1,000.00

Open Division (Men and Women 16 and over)

  • Most Points $750 and Trophy
  • 2nd Points $500 and Trophy
  • 3rd Points $350 and Trophy
  • 4th Points $150

Ladies Division (all female participants 16 and over)

  • Most Points $250 and Trophy
  • 2nd Points $100 and Trophy
  • 3rd Points $50 and Trophy
  • Female participants are welcome to participate in the Open Division and/or Women's Division
    but are only eligible for one prize in one division or the other. Choice must be made at awards ceremony.

Kids Division:

  • Most Points Surf Rod/Reel and Trophy
  • 2nd Points Spinning Rod/Reel and Trophy
  • 3rd Points Tackle Box and Trophy

Special Grand Slam Prize:

  • Okuma Rod & Reel Prize will be awarded to registered angler with greatest total cumulative length of three different qualifying species. (No addition charge.)
    For example: 12 inch Kingfish + 28 inch Striper + 14 inch Bluefish = 54 cumulative points in the Grand Slam Prize Category

Calcutta/Added Entry - Largest Bluefish of Tournament - $10.00 per qualified participant.

In addition to our regular prize money, any angler 18 years of age or older registered in the tournament may enter this level for $10.00. 100% of the monies collected will be paid back to the Largest Bluefish in the tournament.

*Any angler registered in the tournament 18 years of age or older may enter.

Registration Information:

Registration can be made in person at Old Inlet, by mail, or on-line.  Mail and on-line registration will be accepted until Monday, May 6, 2019. In person registration can be made at Old Inlet on Friday before the tournament from 12pm until 8pm. Or, on Saturday from 5:30am until 7am. Registrations will not be accepted after tournament fishing hours start at 7am on Saturday.
 

Check In:
All tournament anglers must check in at Old Inlet to obtain tournament score sheet and packet. Check-in time is Friday from 12pm until 8pm or Saturday from 5:30am until 7am. Absolutely no check-in available after 7am on Saturday the day of the tournament.

Fishing Time:
Saturday 7AM until 3PM

Equipment:
No more than 2 rods per angler and no more than two hooks per line. There are no restrictions on bait, sinkers or line.

Beach Rules:

  • All 4Wd vehicles must have a Delaware Surf Fishing Vehicle Permit. Three day special event vehicle permits will be available for purchase at Check-in.
  • No fishing other than in designated tournament areas.
  • Person baiting, casting the rod, hooking the fish must land the fish.
  • All fish must be caught on hook and lure and landed on beach.
  • If gaffing is required to beach fish, assistance may be used provided the fish is fully visible from the beach
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification. Final ruling will be made by tournament committee.
  • No lines in the water before 7am
  • Castnets are not permitted during tournament fishing hours.

Scoring:

  • Fish are scored to the individual who catches them.
  • Judges will be patrolling the beach during fishing hours to measure and record catches on tournament score sheets.
  • Any disputes will be resolved by the judges
  • All fish will be scored by the length of the fish as measured from the tip of snout to the tip of the tail.
  • One point per inch. No partial points will be awarded.
  • Release Incentive - released fish will earn 1 point Release Bonus. (Bring a bucket to keep fish alive until judge measures them - place bucket in front of truck to let the judges know you have fish to be scored)
  • Once a fish is measured a section of the tail will be cut and that fish is no longer eligible.
  • Total points determine winner(s).
  • Ties on total points will be broken by most fish. If tie continues, points of the largest fish will be totaled. If tie remains unbroken, prize money will be divided.
  • Ties for largest fish of tournament will result in money being divided.
  • Score Sheets must be turned in to judges or Old Inlet no later than 4:30pm. Score sheets must be signed or they will be disqualified.

Qualifying Species:
A list of qualifying species and minimum scoring requirements will de distributed at the time of check-in in tournament packets.

Inclement Weather:
In the event of State beach closing due to heavy surf, prizes will be awarded by lottery at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 9 at 4:30pm. (pending 250 registered anglers)

Awards Ceremony:
Prizes will be awarded at 4:30pm on Saturday, May 9 at Savages Ditch Pavillion. You must be present to be eligible for prizes.

Registration:
All teams must be registered and the registration fee must be paid in full by May 8, 2020. The team registration fee is $50 per person. The registration fee is Non-Refundable

Teams:
Teams shall consist of no more than four members. At least one member of the team must be at least 21 years old. One member of the team must be designated as the Team Captain and will be responsible for interacting with Judges to score fish. No substitution of team members can be made without the consent of the Tournament Committee.

Tournament Committee:
The tournament committee is comprised of Brandy Timmons  (Delaware Fisherwomen), Clark Evans (Old Inlet), Scott Mayhugh and the Head Tournament Judge. All decisions of the Tournament Committee shall be deemed final.

Licenses:
All team members must possess a valid Delaware Fishing License, as required by law.

4WD Permit:
A valid Delaware Surf Fishing Vehicle Permit is required for all 4WD vehicles on the beach.

Check-In:
All team Captains must check in to pick up tournament packet and score sheets on Friday, May 15 at Old Inlet from 5pm-7pm.  Fishing Station assignments will be made at that time.  Failure to attend this meeting will result in an automatic disqualification of the team.

Fishing Area:
The fishing area will be located in the Fenwick Island State Park from York Beach Crossing (northernmost) south to the Middle Crossing.

Fishing Stations:
Each Team Captain will receive a list of the fishing stations that they are assigned at the Captains Meeting. In the event that non-tournament anglers already occupy a team's designated station, the team will be moved to an alternate station as designated by the judge on-site.

Fishing Time:
Each team will be responsible to check in with the morning Fishing Station Judge by no later than 7:30 am on Saturday morning. No lines in the water until 8 am. The morning session will take place from 8 am until 11 am. There will be a lunch break and afternoon Fishing Station Check-in with the Judges from 11 am until 12 pm. No lines in the water during the lunch break. The afternoon session will take place from 12 pm until 3 pm.

Equipment:
No more than one rod per team member. No restrictions of line, sinker, or bait.

 

Beach Rules:

  • Team members must bait and cast their own rod and remove their own fish. If gaffing is required to beach fish, assistance may be given by another member of that team provided that the fish is fully visible from the beach.
  • Team Captain's and members are responsible for keeping their lines from drifting into another team’s station. Any fish hooked outside the boundaries of the team's designated station will not be scored.
  • In the event that fighting a fish requires entry into another team's station, that team shall allow the fish to be fought and beach without impediment.
  • No team or member of any team shall in any way hinder, harass, restrict or otherwise impede other anglers on the beach, including non-tournament persons fishing in a designated station.
  • Cast nets are prohibited during fishing hours.
  • Purposefully killing a shark or skate will result in immediate disqualification.
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification. A final ruling will be made by the tournament committee.

Scoring:

The list of eligible species and the minimum size requirements will be provided in each team's tournament packet.

All fish will be measured from the tip of the snout to the tip of the tail. One point per inch. No partial points will be awarded.

Mutilated fish will not be scored.

Judges will be assigned to each tournament fishing station. Only Judges may measure and record the score of the fish. Please do not record your own score.

Release Incentive: Released fish will earn a One Point Release Bonus (Bring a bucket to keep fish alive in until a judge arrives. Place the bucket in front of your truck to let the judge know you have a fish to be scored.)

Once a fish has been measured a section of the tail will be cut off making the fish no longer eligible if the angler chooses to keep fish.

Total points will determine the winners. The first tiebreaker will be awarded to the team catching the most fish. The second tiebreaker will be decided by the length of the largest fish scored by each team.

Score Sheets:
Your team name will be marked on your score sheet. Team Captain's are required to sign the score sheet and turn it into the judge no more than 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Afternoon Fishing Session. Judges will come by their assigned stations to retrieve the score sheets. Unsigned score sheets and incorrect score sheets will result in immediate disqualification.

Foul Weather:
This is a rain or shine event. The tournament will only be canceled in the event of the State Park closing the beaches due to tropical storm/ hurricane or other conditions.

Liability Waiver:
In consideration of the payment of the entry fee, the team members shall waive any and all claims, for an individual team member and their heirs against the Tournament Committee, Judges or sponsors holding the tournament for injury, illness or property damage which may directly or indirectly result from participation in the event.

Calcutta:
A $20 side bet may be waged per team with the proceeds being paid to the wagering team catching the largest qualifying striped bass of the tournament.

A $20 side bet may be wagered per team with the proceeds being paid to the wagering team that catches the largest qualifying bluefish of the tournament.

7:30 am: Teams Check in with Judges at Assigned Morning Fishing Station
8:00 am-11:00 am: Morning Fishing Session
11:00 am-12:00 pm: Lunch Break and Team Check in with Judges at Assigned Afternoon Fishing Station
12:00 pm-3:00 pm: Afternoon Fishing Session
3:00 pm-3:30 pm: Turn in Score Sheets to Judge

*There will be a photographer coming around taking pictures throughout the day. We would like to get pictures of all the teams for the award ceremony. Pictures will be available for free downloaded for anyone who would like them. Website information will be provided. Thanks!

Sunday, May 17

2:00 pm -4:30 pm: The 2020 Cast For A Cure awards ceremony will be held at Just Hooked located at 1500 Coastal Highway, Fenwick Island, DE 19944.  Complimentary heavy appetizers will be served. A cash bar will be available as well as a large number of sponsor donated raffle prizes, pick-a-prize giveaways and several great silent auction opportunities. Don’t miss it!

All team members receive a complimentary ticket to the award ceremonies.  Additional tickets can be purchased to the Sunday event for $20 each.  These tickets must be purchased in advance by the May 7 deadline.  Limited seating is available. All tickets will be available on a first come - first serve basis.

  • Anglers must bait and cast their own rods and remove their own fish.
  • All fish must be caught on hook or lure and landed on the beach.
  • Person hooking fish while standing in the surf or on outer bar must bring fish to beach.
  • If gaffing is required to beach a fish, assistance may be used provided fish is fully visible from beach.
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification. Final ruling will be made by tournament committee.

Scoring:
